You then heal at home for three to six months with no appointments. The second trip is for the permanent bridge, where the fit, bite and colour are adjusted. You get fixed temporary teeth, usually within 24 to 72 hours of surgery rather than the same hour. That temporary bridge is functional and looks natural, so you do not leave without teeth. Avoid anything hard, crunchy or sticky while you are wearing the temporary bridge, because it is not built for heavy chewing. Once the permanent bridge is fitted you can return to a normal diet, with sensible caution around very hard foods.

The two back implants are placed at an angle to use bone that is already there, which lets many patients skip grafting altogether.
